When I travel somewhere, I have a number of things to prepare for and think over. However, the one thing I stress about is how to get there and what happens if I lose my way. Not having a strong sense of direction, this is a very real concern for me. Whereas some people instinctively know which way is north, south, east or west – I do not have a clue! If there is a “direction gene,†I was definitely not born with it.
This is why I am much more relaxed when I am going with someone who knows where to go and the way to get there. I can focus on what I need to do and have peace on the journey as I travel with someone I can trust.
Is it not the same way with our Christian path? God wants us to take a certain direction but we often actually forget that He is the one who knows the way to get us there.
He knows exactly what steps we need to take. What we need to do is trust.
Are you trusting God for each step of your journey? This involves all our decisions at work, whether seemingly small or obviously significant.
Dear Heavenly Father, There are so many times I have difficult decisions to make at work and I am unsure of the next step to take. Help me remember you are constantly with me and I can constantly trust you. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Putting it into Practice at Work this Week:
Monday: One a scale of “1 to 10â€, with “1†being hardly ever and “10†being always, do you remember you can trust God to be with you every step, of every journey, you are on?
…and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Matthew 28:20
Tuesday: What visual can you give yourself this week to remind you to trust God in the midst of every decision you make and every step you take? Consider making the famous “Footprints in the Sand†your screen saver.
“One night I dreamed a dream.
As I was walking along the beach with my Lord.
Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,
One belonging to me and one to my Lord.
After the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that at many times along the path of my life,
especially at the very lowest and saddest times,
there was only one set of footprints.
This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it.
“Lord, you said once I decided to follow you,
You’d walk with me all the way.
But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I don’t understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me.”
He whispered, “My precious child, I love you and will never leave you
Never, ever, during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you.”
Wednesday: What decision(s) do you need to make this week at work? Have you remembered to trust God is constantly with you and therefore you do not need to feel stressed?
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
Thursday: Are you still feeling twinges of stress about steps you are needing to take? Trust your God who knows everything about you, loves you more than anyone and has the whole world in His hands.
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
Friday: Do you know of someone who is having difficulty dealing with a specific issue? Consider if there is something practical you can do to help them, in addition to praying for them.
The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. James 5:16
May God richly bless you this week as you remember God is always with you and will never leave you. He is with you every step you take.
